Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 June 2026

This policy explains what WeekWell collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We've kept it in plain English on purpose.

Who we are

WeekWell is a household food planner based in the United Kingdom. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean WeekWell. "You" means the person using the service.

The easiest way to reach us is through our contact page.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to run the service:

  • Your account. Your email address and the basic identifiers our auth system uses to sign you in.
  • Your household profile. The people in your household, ages, dietary needs, allergies, food preferences and cooking confidence — whatever you tell us so plans fit your home.
  • Plans, recipes and memory. The meal plans and recipes generated for you, your feedback on meals, and the notes WeekWell remembers about your household to make future plans better.
  • Shopping lists. Lists generated from your plans.
  • Usage data. A record of how much AI generation your account has used, for fair-use limits and billing.
  • Technical data. Basic server logs and the cookies / local storage your browser needs to keep you signed in.

Why we use it

  • To generate meal plans, recipes and shopping lists for your household.
  • To remember your household across weeks so planning gets faster.
  • To keep meals safe — especially around allergies and dietary needs.
  • To run, support and improve the service.
  • To protect the service from abuse and keep accounts secure.

Legal bases (UK GDPR)

We rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Contract — to provide the service you've signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and improve how it works.
  • Consent — where we ask for it specifically (for example, optional features).

Allergies and dietary information

Allergy and dietary information can be considered health-related data. We only use it to plan meals safely for your household. We don't share it with anyone, and we don't use it for advertising.

WeekWell helps you plan meals, but it isn't a medical service. Always double-check ingredients and packaging for anyone with a serious allergy.

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data and we don't run ads. We share data only with the service providers we need to run WeekWell:

  • Our hosting, database and authentication provider.
  • The AI model providers that generate your plans and recipes.
  • If the law requires it (for example, a valid legal request).

AI processing

When we generate a plan or recipe, we send the relevant parts of your household profile (such as allergies, preferences and cooking confidence) to an AI model so it can produce a useful result. We don't allow your data to be used to train third-party models beyond what's needed to return a response.

How long we keep it

We keep your household data while your account is active so planning stays personalised. If you delete your account, we delete your data. You can also ask us to delete specific items at any time.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that's wrong.
  • Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any of these rights, get in touch via our contact page.

Cookies and local storage

We use a small amount of cookies and browser local storage — mainly to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. A separate Cookie Policy will go into more detail.

Children

WeekWell isn't directed at children under 13 creating their own accounts. Adults can of course list children as members of their household so meals can be planned for the whole family.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Household data is protected at the database level so only your account can read it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

International transfers

Some of our providers — particularly AI model providers — may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
